Stephen Pitters, M.M.

Stephen Pitters, M.M., is a vocal pedagogue (voice teacher) based in Los Angeles, California.
Mr. Pitters teaches an innovative and forward-thinking technique. An avid proponent of
science-informed, evidence-based vocal pedagogy,
he fluidly combines affirming research with traditional bel canto techniques; he possesses an acute awareness of motor learning and cognitive processes, acoustic phenomena, and physiological functions.
Since 2023, Mr. Pitters has served on
the Musical Theatre Faculty as
Adjunct Professor of Voice
at
AMDA College of the Performing Arts
(American Musical and Dramatic Academy).
In addition to teaching at the college level, Mr. Pitters works with an extensive list of private clients, whom are all professionals in various artistic disciplines. His clients include GRAMMY nominees, screen actors, and theatrical performers throughout the U.S. and across the world.
Mr. Pitters is a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Vocal Arts Candidate at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music, where he studies under the tutelage of Ms. Elizabeth Hynes.
In addition to his doctoral studies, Mr. Pitters serves as a
Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Thornton School,
where his responsibilities include teaching musical theatre history, group voice classes, and private voice lessons.
In addition to the Major Field, Mr. Pitters is pursuing an Academic Field in Music Teaching & Learning and Elective Fields in Arts Leadership and Directing for the Operatic Stage.
Mr. Pitters recently earned his Master of Music (MM) in Vocal Arts degree from the Thornton School and received the Opera Ensemble Award upon his graduation. Prior to his academic appointment, Mr. Pitters was the recipient of the prestigious Marilyn Horne Endowed Scholarship in Voice.
Mr. Pitters accepts new private clients on
an auditioned basis.
